Frequently asked questions
1. Is Razer BlackShark V2 X wired?
Yes, the Razer BlackShark V2 X is a wired gaming headset. It connects to your PC, Mac, PlayStation console, or Xbox console primarily by using a standard 3.5mm audio cable. This wired connection transmits audio with minimal delay and with a high degree of reliability, which is desirable for most serious gamers, especially those whose gaming involves competitive games of rapid action requiring mostly accurate audio synchronization. A wired connection removes interference from other wireless devices as well as connectivity drops which can happen with some wireless headsets, making the audio experience smooth and uninterrupted.
2. Does Razer BlackShark V2 X have 7.1 Surround Sound?
Yes, the Razer BlackShark V2 X comes with 7.1 virtual surround sound. This technology allows the listener to be utterly immersed in the three-dimensional sound experience by simulating sound that is coming from all directions around the listener. This means enhanced spatial awareness. In terms of gaming, it will provide an enhanced accuracy of in-game audio cues - say, pinpointing enemy footstep directions or gunfires, among other vital sound events - thus providing competitive edge due to improved situational awareness. Most Razer 7.1 surround sound processing is proprietary through Razer software.
3. Does Razer BlackShark V2 use USB?
The Razer BlackShark V2 X connects primarily through a 3.5mm audio jack. It does not use USB for its primary audio connection. It's worth noting that the BlackShark V2 X is different from the BlackShark V2 (the non-X version). The BlackShark V2 (non-X) does use USB for its connection and includes a USB sound card. This USB sound card enhances the audio processing capabilities of the headset. Therefore, though they belong to the same BlackShark V2 family, their connection methods are different.
4. What size driver is the Razer BlackShark V2 X?
The Razer BlackShark V2 X uses 50mm drivers. The drivers are larger than the usual driver size, ensuring that the headphones deliver powerful audio with clear highs, mids, and lows, which result in a better and more detailed sound experience. The size of the driver matters in the general quality of sound produced by the headset, mainly because it dictates the ability to reproduce a range of frequencies as well as a good bass response. Bigger drivers sound fuller and richer.
5. Is the Razer BlackShark V2 compatible with Mac?
Both the Razer BlackShark V2 X and the Razer BlackShark V2 can be used with Mac computers. The BlackShark V2 X is attached through the default 3.5mm audio jack. This is a commonly located port on all Mac computers. The BlackShark V2 uses a USB connection, so it works just as well with Macs because Mac computers possess USB ports. This would mean that the model you might have does not matter; connect it to a Mac, use it for some gaming, and listen to audio tracks or soundtracks for the movies.
6. Is the Razer BlackShark V2 X USB compatible with Xbox?
Yes, though mostly connected through the 3.5mm jack, it does work with all Xbox consoles via the 3.5mm jack connection as long as such is available at the controller part of the game console. It does not use a direct USB connection to the Xbox itself. The 3.5mm connection to the Xbox controller is what enables the headset to function on the Xbox. So, while it's physically possible to plug a 3.5mm cable into a USB port with an adapter, it's not how the BlackShark V2 X is intended to be used with an Xbox.
7. Does Razer BlackShark V2 X have bass?
The Razer BlackShark V2 X is built to provide balanced audio, and yes, it has a fair amount of bass. The 50mm drivers make for good bass response and depth and impact to the audio. However, it is not boosted or overpowering, which is suitable for games and various types of audio content. The bass is there but not muddy with the other frequencies. It offers a good balance between clarity and impact.
