Processor: Just like every application that’s used for video editing, DaVinci Resolve Studio also relies heavily on the processor. As per our budget, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is the best processor that we can get. Not to mention, it’s also the most powerful AMD Zen 4 processor released so far. Talking about the specifications, it comes with 16 cores, 32 threads, a 5.7GHz boost clock, and it also has AMD 3D V-Cache technology.
Motherboard: For such high-end configurations, we need an X-series motherboard as it allows us to overclock, and also comes equipped with all the high-end features and specifications that enthusiasts love. We are going with the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi, and talking of its highlights, it comes with DDR5 memory support with speeds up to 7800MHz, PCIe Gen5, M.2 NVMe Gen5, USB 3.2 Gen2, an enhanced power design, extensive cooling solutions, and a lot more.
RAM: For the best video editing experience, we need a high-capacity memory configuration and also need to ensure that it’s fast. With the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 128GB (32GB x 4) 5200MHz RAM kit, both of those things are taken care of.
Graphics Card: A monstrous PC configuration for video editing DaVinci Resolve Studio is incomplete without a powerful graphic card. We are going with the Zotac GeForce RTX 4080 Super Trinity Black Edition graphic card due to its amazing performance, exceptional cooling performance, and Zotac’s 5-year warranty.
CPU Cooler: The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is one of the most powerful processors out there right now. And, thus, it heats considerably when it’s under heavy load. To ensure that the temperatures don’t get too high and everything stays stable, we are using the Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360 Atmos. This 360mm AIO liquid cooler has great cooling performance and also makes your setup look better with its unique design and ARGB lighting.
Storage: We are going with a combination of two different SSDs for this PC configuration. The first one is the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB and the second one is the Western Digital Blue SN580 500GB. Both of these are M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSDs so speed is not a concern, and 1.5TB will be more than enough for most.
SMPS: Now, this is a very high-end configuration, so we need a high-wattage PSU, or power supply unit to ensure all those components get the required power. We are going with the Cooler Master MWE 1050 V2. This is a 1050-watt ATX 3.0 PSU that comes with 80+ Gold certification, and it’s also fully modular.
Case: Lastly, for the cabinet, we chose the Cooler Master HAF 500. This case comes with a classic design language but yet looks unique thanks to the mesh front panel and the two 200mm large ARGB fans behind it. Apart from these, this case also features a tempered glass side panel, a removable top panel, ample space to install up to eight 120mm fans, and a 360mm radiator as well.
The PC configuration that we discussed above features a combination of the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 128GB of fast DDR5 memory from Corsair, and there is also the Zotac RTX 4080 Super Trinity Black Edition. With these specifications, you can be assured that you will be able to do the highest levels of video editing workload in DaVinci without any issues whatsoever. Feel free to implement the most resource-intensive and complex visual effects, add as many layers as you need, feel free to use DaVinci Resolve Studio’s effects to their fullest, this configuration will manage it just fine.
To conclude if you have a budget of around 3 Lakhs INR and are looking for the best PC configuration for video editing in DaVinci Resolve Studio, then this is a solid consideration. The specifications make it capable enough to do everything in DaVinci Resolve Studio that a professional video editor might need or want to do.
