The 860 PRO uses the Samsung V-NAND 2bit MLC NAND type. The SSD comes in a 2.5-inch form factor and weighs a maximum of 50 grams. The 860 PRO has consistent and sustained higher speeds with sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s and sequential read speed of up to 560 MB/s. The refined ECC algorithm and a robust MJX controller generates higher speeds.
The average power consumption of the SSD is 2w and 3.3w under load. The SSD has 1.5 trillion hours of MTBF for reliable performance. The Samsung 860 PRO comes with the Samsung Magician software that can be used to monitor the health of the SSD manage various features and get firmware updates for enhanced performance, stability, and compatibility. The Samsung Magician software also packs in the useful performance benchmark tools to check the sequential and random read and write and speeds to maintain top-notch performance. The 860 PRO supports AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption and is compliant with TCG Opal and IEEE 1667 standards.
