Intel, and AMD have always been competing for making better, and better processors. Both of these manufacturers offer various options, and multiple price points for various types of users. But, if you are a gamer, and are looking for a new processor under 15,000 INR that comes with 6 cores, and 12 threads. Then, the two options that you must consider are AMD Ryzen 5 3500X, and Intel Core i5 10400F. These processors are not only priced very close. But, in terms of performance, they are close as well. So, which one among these will be a better buy for you? That is what we are going to determine in this article.
The Ryzen 5 3500X and Intel Core i5 10400F are both excellent budget mid-range processors. The pricing of these two are very much close. For this reason, there is lots of confusion amidst the community regarding which one is a better choice. In this article, we are going to see what kind of performance these two processors offer in various games, and two synthetic benchmarks. From these, you would get a fair idea on what to expect from both the Ryzen 3500X and the i5 10400F.
Firstly, we are going to run various games, and see what kind of average, and minimum frame rates do we get using both of these processors. The graphics card that we are using for our test is NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti. Normally, such a powerful card is not needed in such builds. However, we are doing it in order to ensure that there is no bottleneck. Without any further ado, let’s get started with the benchmarks now. Firstly, it is Hitman 2.
In Hitman 2, the performance of both the Ryzen 3500X and the Core 10400F are pretty similar. Barely a few FPS difference in both the average and minimum frame rates.
Next up, in Resident Evil 3, the average frame rates are quite similar for both. However, the Intel Core i5 10400F simply beats the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X by a large margin in terms of the minimum frame rate.
Battlefield V at 1080p, High settings runs pretty much the same on both the processors. So, in this case, both the i5 10400F and the Ryzen 5 3500X do pretty well.
In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we get to see very similar performance yet again for both the Intel i5 10400F and the R5 3600X.
When it comes to gaming, as you can see there is not a big difference with either. However, if you want to know which is better, it is the Intel Core i5 10400F. Although, the margin is quite slight, and negligible in most cases. But, what about the synthetic benchmarks? Well, we also ran Cinebench R20 benchmarks on both, and here are the results for that.
So, above, you can see all the various benchmarks we did, and how both of the processors scored. To keep it simple, if you are looking for a new processor in this segment, you can go with either of the processors. The gaming performance is more or less, the same on both. So, what we would suggest is go for whichever one you get for cheaper. It can either be the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X or it can also be the Intel i5 10400F. Both are excellent processors in this segment, and something you should consider if you are looking for one in this segment.
